The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR, 1948) lists 30 rights all humans hold. Key categories: Civil and political rights (right to life, free speech, fair trial); Economic, social, cultural rights (right to work, education, health). In Tanzania these are protected in Part III of the 1977 Constitution. The Human Rights Commission investigates violations. Rights can be limited during public emergencies. Tanzania signed major international human rights treaties.
